What exactly is normal again?!?
This year has been particularly strange for all of us. It's interesting to hear almost everyone asking the questions most of my patients ask regularly. "What amount of sadness/stress/frustration is appropriate?" "When does feeling sad warrant getting help?" "What does 'normal' mean anyway?" I stumbled upon this image (Thanks Facebook!) and it really resonated both with how I've been feeling but also with what I hear from patients. I love that it shows the progression that occurs due to stress or mental illness and that it shows the steps that usually occur in the stages of improvement. I love working with people to move closer to that green place of thriving. Super human happiness and bliss or laser focus probably isn't realistic for most of us, but a comfortable existence in life certainly is!
