Questions?

Here are some of the most common questions I get about working together.

FAQs

  • I am physically located in Prattville, Alabama, but because I work virtually, I can see patients anywhere in Florida, Idaho, and Alabama. I see people from Huntsville to Mobile, Boise to Lewiston, Pensacola to Key West and anywhere in between.

  • Amazingly well! I’ll send a link to my HIPAA secure virtual waiting room prior to your visit. You’ll click on it at the time of the appointment, and we’ll visit over the computer. A smartphone will also work as long as there is a reliable internet connection.

Studies show that it is just as effective as in person care, and it’s even more convenient. No more driving across town, waiting in a crowded lobby, or even wearing matching pants.

  • Nope! The vast majority of patients prefer online visits, and truthfully, so do I.

Studies show that it is just as effective as in person care, and it’s even more convenient. Plus, I love seeing your pets!

  • I am in network with Aetna and United. We do not accept any other insurances, EAPs, Medicaid, or Medicare.

For patients not in network with those providers, hour long new patient visits are $320 and half hour follow ups are $145 which is billed to a credit card on file at the time of service.

  • For people who are not in network with Aetna or United, White Pine offers self pay rates. We are happy to provide an itemized receipt with appropriate billing information if you wish to file for any out-of-network insurance benefits.

For self-pay visits, hour long intakes are $2900, standard follow ups are $145, and extended 45 minute visits are $212. More information about each of those services is provided below.

    Initial Assessment & Consultation (60 minutes) $290

Together we will explore your current concerns, review your medical and psychiatric history, and clarify your goals for treatment. From there, we’ll discuss treatment options which could include a combination of medication, labs, counseling and even lifestyle modification. With that information, we will collaboratively create a plan that feels good to you.

Extended Follow Up Visits (45 minutes) $212

These visits allow additional time for patients early in treatment or those experiencing more intense life stress, severe symptoms, or medication side effects. They’re also great for patient committed to regular psychotherapy or lifestyle change to support metal health.

Standard Follow Up Visits (30 minutes) $145

We will discuss any updates in your life, your symptoms, and your medications. Then we’ll set a plan to help you feel better. I do not offer 15 minute visits as I feel at least 30 minutes are needed to provide thorough and comprehensive personalized care.

    One-time Consultations & Second Opinions (90 minutes) $580

Some people wish to meet only once for an in depth review after which we can coordinate care with another provider, usually your PCP or OBGYN.

Similar to the initial assessment & consultation, this would include an in depth exploration of your current concerns, a review of your past medical and psychiatric history, and discussion of your goals for treatment. We would then map out a long term plan for ongoing treatment and monitoring. A comprehensive consultation report would then be provided to you and your treatment team to summarize our plan within 3 weeks, and I would be available to them for coordination of care.

Other Clinical Services ($50 per 10 minute increment)

Other clinical services can be arranged at the rate of $50 per 10 minute increment.

  • The Good Faith Estimate is an estimate of the cost of your care required to be provided for any patients without insurance.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

  • Missed appointments and appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will be billed a fee of $145. Patients with three late cancellations or missed appointments will be discharged from the practice.

  • Click on this Link and request an appointment. Next, complete the intake forms that will be emailed to your inbox. Intake forms need to be completed 72 hours prior to our first visit. Otherwise, the appointment will be canceled and you will need to reschedule.

For your safety, try and find a time and place where you feel your privacy is protected. Therefore, we do not recommend that you are others during your virtual appointment or participating in activities that may distract you, such as driving.

  • We will spend about an hour together discussing the details of your current concerns and your mental health history, reviewing your lifestyle and physical health, and developing a plan to help you feel better.

We will collaboratively decide upon a treatment plan, and I’ll answer any questions you may have.

  • Frequency of visits is highly variable depending on things like how you’re currently feeling, your specific diagnosis, and what medications you’re taking. Some patient who are really struggling may meet every few days, while other patients who are very stable may only need to be seen every three months. Ultimately, I value the importance of ongoing care and communication. To ensure that this is happening, all patients need to be seen at least once every six months for follow up appointments.

We’ll discuss the timing of your next visit at the end of each appointment, and your input is welcome in that discussion.

  • Totally depends! For some patients, medication is an important step while they work through specific circumstances. For other patients, medication is an ongoing need.

Current guidelines suggest taking into consideration your specific mental health diagnoses, life stressors, severity of illness and response to treatment into consideration in determining how long to continue medication.

I often discuss these considerations with patients, and we collaborate together to make a personalized plan that feels good.

  • We do not prescribe any controlled substances or stimulants, such as Adderall, Ritalin, or Vyvanse, or benzodiazepines such as Xanax, Ativan, or Klonopin.

There are circumstances where we will coordinate care with your primary care or specialty provider who manages those medications.
